Out of my Mind by Sharon M Draper

Melody has Cerebral Palsy. She uses an electric wheel chair and can only move her thumbs. Her brain is full of knowledge but since she can’t talk there’s no way to let anyone know, until she gets a computer that can talk for her. She can now share her love for her parents and her knowledge at school. She surprises everyone with her word knowledge; she loves English!

I loved that Out of my Mind was told through the perspective of someone with a disability and who can’t communicate in the way we normally do. It helped me to understand what someone else is going through. This was a very heartfelt book.
